Mrs. Rita A. (Bouchie) Babcock, of Watertown, died Monday, January 25, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was 90.

Rita was born November 7, 1919 in Newton, a daughter of the late Harry and Arthemise (LeBlanc) Bouchie. She worked as a materials handler for the Raytheon Corporation for 40 years. She had been a resident of Watertown for the past 50 years.

In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and was an avid bingo and card player. Rita especially took pleasure in vacationing in York Beach, Maine, and occasional trips down to Foxwoods Casino.

Rita was the wife of the late George S. Babcock; she leaves her children, Virginia B. Caskie and her husband, David, of Watertown, and Donna R. Mello of Plymouth; her sister Agnes Leone of Nashua, NH; her grandchildren, Michelle Ducrot and her husband, Jean, Brian Mello, Melissa Mello and Jenna Caskie; and her great-grandchildren, Amelie and Corinne Ducrot; and many nieces and nephews. Rita was a sister of the late Sister Mary Elena Bennett, Bertha O’Dette, Alice Potas, Helen Landry and Harry Bouchie.

Family and friends will honor and remember Rita’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday January 28, from 4-7 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick’s Church, 212 Main St., Watertown where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.

Memorials in Rita’s name may be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472.
